would like to cordially invite you to the public debate
“The great absentee: TTIP under scrutiny”
The debate will take place on the 1st of October 2015 at 6 pm
on the premises of “Polityka” newsmagazine office (Warsaw, Słupecka 6, entrance B).
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has been negotiated between the European Union and the United States since June 2013. It is supposed to be the biggest trade agreement in the world history. Its supporters point at economic benefits and underline that it will lead to strengthening of billateral relations between the EU and the US and guarantee that the western world will play the leading role in global trade. However, since the very beginning the idea of the deal has been criticized by the representaitves of the civil society and several politicians in Europe and in the US. There are serious concerns that TTIP can lead to downgrading of European social and environmental standards and pose a threat to democracy. In Poland there is only a marginal discussion about TTIP. The aim of the conference is to intensify the public debate about chances and threats related to passing the TTIP and to involve various groups into it.
